Do you have to use a torque wrench to put the 2 bolts back in holding the calliper?

Or can I just do them with my regular ratchet

  • octa8507:

Any vids on changing clutch plates for a 2006 R1? I am having a hard time putting the clutch case cover back on.

  • MODernGamers:

Very very good video. Thanks for the hard working and for sharing. Cheers from Australia

  • misteredwino:

    Well done, thank you.

  • vampov:

    caliper not caliber…. I’m retard

  • vampov:

nice video. I think you forgot to mention to use blue loctite on the caliber bolts to make sure the bolts to vibrate free.

  • NoOtherNameWasLeft:

nope. You can do it by hand. I push the old pads against the cylinder to expand them.

  • CheckItDontWreckIt82:

did you need to use a hand vice to push them back in?

  • NoOtherNameWasLeft:

Thanks. ’94 ninja zx6 looks very similar. All my bikes have been similar, too.

Good catch! I did push the calipers in after cleaning them. Forgot to film it. They pushed in really easily.

  • CheckItDontWreckIt82:

would changing the brake pads on this bike be very different to changing the pads on another bike? I have a ’94 kawasaki ninja.

Also, I noticed you didn’t need to adjust the calipers. When I changed the brakes on my car I would sometimes need to push the calipers in so that there would be room for the new pads.

  • NoOtherNameWasLeft:

    cool. thanks for watching.

  • NoOtherNameWasLeft:

I think they are anti-rattle/anti-squeal springs.

  • redlinerebel:

    thanks for posting

  • ajohnson:

What do the spring plates do and are they nessisary??? I was riding my gsxr750 and those pins fell out some how and both brake pads went bouncing down the road. scared the shit out of me. Now i ordered parts and am fixing this weekend.

  • kyligz:

  • motorztv:

@freshazimiz4 Please see previous responses… there are a few. Or you can read the additional show notes on the video page at the motorz.tv website

  • freshazimiz4:

do you have to put the ring back on.?

  • Scharfschutze13:

@Roshandk you should try WD-40 on them

  • bettafish110:

@bettafish110 thankz . would u know if its safe to do it at home beacuse my dad once did it at the mechinc and they didnt pump the pedel and put it into reverse and almost killed one of the guys and stopped by hittin a wall so he wants me to take it to a mechinc. you only need to pump it when you bleed the brake fluid correct me if iam wrong.

    Thankz

  • motorztv:

@bettafish110 you don’t need to keep that around or install a new one as it’s just used at the factory on the assembly line.

  • bettafish110:

@motorztv hey i needed to know about the clip that holds the rotor on do u reinstall the same one or do u get one with the rotor and how do i pop it back i dont want the rotor flying off when iam driving LOL

  • Roshandk:

why dont you use any grease to the brake pads?? I mean for them to slide on.

  • Asylumescapee69:

I’m unfamiliar with what you were referring to on the back calipers where you turned about 1/4 turn clockwise, was that all there is to it? How much do you turn, and why? Can you explain that a little more thoroughly please?

  • AocXieZ:

    Thx for a good vid.

  • motorztv:

    @lordbemylight They’ve been re-purposed, not wasted.

  • lordbemylight:

Those stock pads and rotors looked like they had enough life left in them. What a waste.

  • LosBanosF250:

@JudadoLV – if the rotors are straight vaned, it actually doesn’t matter which way the slotting and cross drill pattern go. However, if the rotors have directional cooling vanes, in that case the direction of the rotor does matter.

  • WestLosHomiez:

@SeanBallaWaller1 How is that possible? Autozone, Oreilly, Autozone, Napa all have that tool? Sometimes you have to RENT a tool. Pay the full price of the tool & when you return it they return your money. Im not sure if completely but the majority of it or all of it i think.

  • daegg5:

    lol love the intro

  • SeanBallaWaller1:

@motorztv also i have gone to 5 auto shops and no one has the rear piston rotation tool. what do i do? and where can i get it? they sell 5 sided block/cube things at pepboys but none of the sides fit

  • motorztv:

@SeanBallaWaller1 As long as you don’t disconnect any of your brake lines, you don’t need to bleed your brakes. Just open up your brake fluid reservoir like I did at 3:08. As far as the direction, all brake rotors I’ve installed have a clear indication as to which side it goes on (R) or (L). These were put on correctly, despite a few comments, so it’s best to check with the manufacturer to determine how they were designed to be installed.

  • SeanBallaWaller1:

im about to change the rotors and pads on my gt. is it necessary to bleed all the brakes in the process? as well as my new rotors are slotted so do they go on a certain way? like from the middle of the the slot out facing the back of the car? or cascading toward the front like how this was done? thanks

  • motorztv:

    @MCBakano Yes, that’s a bad idea!

  • MCBakano:

Is painting the rotor a bad idea?

  • oscarv362370:

HI THERE MY FRIEND, I HAVE A BRIEF QUESTION, MY CAR WAS MAKING A SQUEAK SOUND AND THINKING THAT THEY WERE THE ROTORS, SO I REPLACED THEM AND AFTER FOR MONTHS THE SAME SQUEAKING SOUND, I JUST BOUGHT THE BRAKE PADS, THEY WERE WORN OUT, IS IT TRUE THAT BEFORE REPLACING THE BRAKE PADS YOU HAVE TO DO SOMETHING TO THE ROTORS “TORNEAR” I DON’T KNOW HOW TO SAY THAT IN ENGLISH, SINCE THE OLD BRAKE PADS WORN OUT THE ROTOR? I DON’T KNOW IF I WAS TO CLEAR ABOUT IT, BUT DO YOU GET ME SORT OF. THANKS

  • motorztv:

@JudadoLV We didn’t… but thanks for watching :)

  • JudadoLV:

@gr8Moo Yeah… I’m pretty sure he installed the front in the wrong direction. Ah well…

  • motorztv:

    @kiedro96 Thanks we will!

  • motorztv:

@stanggtv8 Glad it helped… that’s why we make Motorz!

  • stanggtv8:
